Understanding the NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme – NDIS, is a new way of making sure people with a ‘permanent and significant’ disability have the support they need to live as independently as possible and participate socially and economically, by providing individualised funding for 'reasonable and necessary' supports.

Castle has been an NDIS registered service provider since its trial in Newcastle in 2013.

If you have ideas for the type of support you want, we will help you to make it happen.

Not sure where to start?

The first step is to follow the link to the am I eligible page, on the NDIS government website. Here you will be able to determine if you are eligible, by going through the NDIS checklist. If you meet the criteria, you can now apply to become a participant:

  • call us on 1300 817 917 and ask to how make an NDIS Access Request
  • complete and submit the Access Request Form and send by email to NAT@ndis.gov.au or
  • contact your local LAC or NDIA office.

For a more detailed outline of the above steps check out how to apply or see our Frequently Asked Questions.

Already have an NDIS plan?

If you’re confused about the information in your plan, that’s ok – we can work through it with you. If you are struggling to get the support you need from your plan, we can connect you to great support workers and services. If you are looking for something different from your support, we would love to chat with you about what Castle can offer.
