Castle is a not-for-profit organisation, formed by members of the community, to support disadvantaged people in our community.
We opened our door as Castle Personnel Services in King Street Newcastle in 1991 with the goal to place 30 people with mild intellectual, sensory and physical disabilities into open employment.
Today, Castle has helped more people with disabilities, mental health conditions, chronic illnesses and injuries find work and live meaningful lives than any other organisation in the Newcastle, Hunter, and Central Coast regions.
We understand intimately what it takes to transform the lives of the people we support.
We have over 170 staff in over 10 locations delivering Disability Employment and NDIS services to over 2000 people locally.
We understand intimately what it takes to transform the lives of the people we support. Our long-standing partnerships with local employers ensure we've made an enormous impact on our participants' lives, and local businesses.
To create opportunities for everyone to be truly seen, supported and valued.
Our values were created from the ground up, with input from our participants, employers, and employees. They reflect what we truly believe in and are at the front of our minds every day.
- Be genuine. We’re down to earth, caring people and honest straight-talkers. Our work is all about building honest, fair and transparent relationships with participants: you can’t fake it. Being genuine holds us accountable for always acting with integrity and putting the interests of participants first.
- Look on the bright side. We recognise that life and work isn’t always smooth sailing. Bumps in the road are par for the course. We are able to see past the bumps in the road, think laterally and act calmly in difficult situations. We look for the opportunity to unlock the full potential of our participants everywhere and every day.
- We never give up. When the going gets tough, our people roll up their sleeves and get the job done. Our work rests on a foundation of trust that must be earned. Our work offers the chance to truly change people’s lives. In following through we recognise this as both a great privilege and responsibility.
- We celebrate the wins. Assisting people with disabilities achieve their goals – feeling part of and contributing to their community – is life-changing. We never take that for granted.
Our work is satisfying and fulfilling, built on small, significant gains and moments that deserve to be celebrated together, as teams and with participants.
